Four sustainable daycare centers for the next generation – Portfolio Bremen
The current situation regarding childcare in Germany is a major social challenge. A large proportion of families are financially dependent on daycare places. Particularly in Bremen there is a large gap between supply and demand. By adding four daycare centers in the city of Bremen to our portfolio, we aim to secure 1,212 childcare places for the long-term future. This investment thus makes an important contribution to families and early childhood education.
The properties are newly built and have started operations between 2018 and 2022. In the conceptual design, significant attention was paid to energy efficiency by integrating aspects such as heat pumps, PV system and solar thermal energy wherever possible.
Since the initial phase of the project, the intention was to guarantee a high-quality offering for early childhood education.
Thus, the buildings also meet the highest requirements in various areas through for instance pedagogical room layouts and child-friendly and secure outdoor areas. The facilities, which are run by social, state and private entities, also place high emphasis on sustainable daycare operations.
We are now bearing long-term responsibility for the impact asset management of the four daycare centers and will be highly committed to guaranteeing a measurable social contribution at the sites.
